What's included?

Explore incredible landscapes, a spectacular coastline and countless historical sites

Surrounded by quaint towns and villages, Slaley has its own unique charm. Located just outside of Hexham, it offers a wealth of country activities from golfing and quad biking, to kayak trips along the coastline to horseback riding along sandy beaches. The region also hosts a number of eclectic festivals and cultural events, alongside fine dining experiences to impress the most passionate of foodies. For those looking to unwind and relax after a long day exploring the region has some acclaimed country pubs serving local ales and local produce next to a roaring fire.

You’ll be staying at the luxurious Slaley Hotel, which is situated within 1,000 acres of Northumberland moorland and forest so you’ll need your walking boots and camera. This is a grand hotel and the interior is as dramatic as the views outside. The stunning scenery and excellent spa facilities and indoor pool available make this the perfect destination to unwind and recharge your batteries. At the end of the day, why not enjoy a delicious dinner or evening tipple with your Solo Breaks companions at the hotel’s Claret Jug restaurant or 19th Bar.

The hotel is well located to numerous historical attractions such as Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle & the Cradle of Christianity. Your Tour Guide will run a tour of popular attractions for those that want to take part.

This relaxing break can give you a rest from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The picturesque countryside surrounding Slaley Hall Hotel offers the perfect backdrop for an evening stroll.

It wouldn’t be a Solo Breaks trip without the chance to meet some great people. We travel in small groups, so you all get the chance to get to know each other. Head home with a wealth of memories, some new friends and plenty of stories to tell!

A good night’s kip is really important when you’re travelling, and so is the location. We choose the accommodation to suit the trip, making sure you have a clean, comfortable and well-located place to stay.
Most of our travellers sign-up solo and so we’re all in the same boat … or plane for that matter. Our traveller groups are small, informal and welcoming. While we’re not a singles travel company, 90% of our groups are made up of solo travellers. You’ll have the opportunity to meet your team before we set-off – we run an ice-breaker on Zoom and you’ll also be invited into a WhatsApp group so you can get to know the group before we go.
We like to keep our group-size small so travellers can get to know each other on the trip. Usually, there are around 5-10 travellers on each trip between the ages of 30-50.
Yes, you can. Around 10% of our group are made up of couples or friends who enjoy socialising and meeting new people.
Of course! Everything we plan on the itinerary is optional. If you fancy coming along to everything, you’re more than welcome. If you want to dip out any point to relax or do your own thing, that’s completely fine too.

It’s important for all travellers to arrange their own travel insurance before we set-off. If you need help with travel insurance, give Steve a call and he will advise.

To secure your place on the trip, we’ll ask for a deposit, which can be made by bank transfer. The final payment for the trip will be due two-weeks before we leave. You’ll find more payment information on each event page.
Payment for your trip can be made online on this website, by bank transfer or you can make payment over the phone by calling Steve Sutherland on: 07845 529 538.

Cancellation requests are only accepted by email. For further information on our cancellation policy, read our full terms and conditions.

Contact Steve (info@solobreaks.co.uk or 07845 529 538) any time and he’ll answer your questions.

Questions About This Get-Away

As your host, I’ll be there on every trip to take care of the travel logistics, answer any of your questions, and most importantly, make sure you have an unforgettable experience!
