A weekend of sightseeing, walking and socialising
We’ll be staying in the beautiful setting of Capel Curig at Glan Dwr Mountain Lodge but will also branch out to surrounding areas, such as Betws-y-Coed, the gateway to Snowdonia and its neighbouring towns and villages. This magical setting has a distinctly Alpine feel, enhanced by Gwydyr Forest.
This trip is ideal for those who wish to travel independently, with the added support of a friendly group of like-minded people and a dedicated tour leader. We think experiences are better shared, and this is certainly one you won’t forget!
On Friday evening, we’ll get together with a glass of bubbly, giving everyone a chance to get to know each other. We’ll have dinner at around 8pm at the local pub (it’s the perfect chance to sample the local ale).
On Saturday, we’ll leave our cars and set off for a lovely 9-mile walk, allowing us to soak up the beauty that lies right on our doorstep. If you don’t fancy taking part in the walk, this is the ideal opportunity to explore Betws-y-Coed at your own leisure.
We’ll get to see Swallow Falls, a beautiful waterfall on the Afon Llugwy that has become a familiar natural celebrity over the past 100 years. There is also an option to visit Bodnant Garden, one of the most magical gardens in the UK, covering 80 acres looking across the valley towards the Snowdonia range.
For those who enjoy visiting historic sites, Conwy castle is a gritty, dark stoned fortress that has the rare ability to evoke an authentic medieval atmosphere.
In the evening, we will eat at a lovely local restaurant and catch up on the day’s events.
On Sunday, we’ll take a 5-mile circular walk around lake Idwal and enjoy the spectacular sights of the Glyderau and Carneddau mountain ranges.
Before you travel, there will be an opportunity to get to know fellow Solo Breaks travellers on a Zoom call. We’ll also invite you to a group WhatsApp where we can discuss car share and transport arrangements.
Your host, Steve, will be on hand at all times to answer any questions you have.
